It is now learnt that in the morning hours of February 27, a package consisting around 12  jets including 3 F-16 fighter jets intruded into Indian air space with an intention to attack four military installations in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, Indian jets intercepted Pakistan jets and shot down one F-16 jet. After their attempt was foiled, the jets dropped payloads while retreating.

India also lost a jet (MiG-21 Bison) and the pilot landed down on Pakistani soil. He is identified as Wing Commander Abhinandan.  His is seen as being herded, with his face bloodied, by Pakistani security personnel and civilians, the video of which went viral.

Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan also had claimed that two Indian pilots are in Pakistan’s custody. Later Pakistan retracted on this claim and said only one Indian pilot has been captured.

The claim and the retraction are seen as Pakistan’s tactic to mislead the world community and hide the fact that it lost a F-16 aircraft from its domestic audience.
