India’s Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj delivered a heart-winning brilliant speech in foreign ministers’ meet of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today on March 1, 2019, while Pakistan’s foreign minister’s absence was conspicuous, with an empty chair.
Although a founding member of OIC, Paksitan refused to participate in the meet citing invitation to India, which is neither a member nor an observer of OIC. India was invited for the first time to attend the meet as a Guest of Honour.
Read some quotes from the well-articulated Sushma’s speech:
“If we want to save humanity, we must tell States who provide shelter and funding to terrorists to dismantle infrastructure of terror camps and stop shelter, funding to terror organisations based in that country”
“Our Muslim brothers and sisters live in harmony with each other and non-Muslims – it’s this appreciation of diversity & coexistence that has ensured that very few Muslims in India have fallen prey to poisonous propaganda of radical ideologies:
The fight against terrorism is not a confrontation against any religion. It cannot be.”
“Just as Islam literally means peace, none of the 99 names of Allah mean violence. Similarly, every religion in the world stands for peace, compassion & brotherhood.”
“India has always embraced and found it easy to embrace pluralism since it is embedded in the oldest Sanskrit religious text “The Rig Veda” and I quote “एकं सद्विप्रा बहुधा वदन्ति”, which means “God is One but learned men describe Him in many ways”.
