Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumarswamy (also Nikhil Kumar) has declared assets worth Rs 74 crore in his nomination papers.
The 29 year-old third-generation politician from the Deve Gowda family has acted in a handful of Kannada films. Currently, he is contesting from Mandya parliamentary constituency as a joint candidate of Congress-JDS alliance.
According to the affidavit in his nomination papers, Nikhil Kumar has declared Rs 17.53 crore worth movable assets Rs 56.47 crore worth immovable assets. He owns two houses and a commercial complex in Bengaluru City.
The affidavit reveals that he borrowed Rs 13.93 crore from his mother, Anitha Kumaraswamy and Rs 9.18 lakh from his father HD Kumaraswamy. At present, his mother is a sitting MLA from Ramanagaram.
Nikhil Kumar has also given a loan of Rs 1.10 crore to his father and Rs 1.75 crore to Kasturi Media Pvt. Ltd., owned by his mother.
In Mandya, he is fighting a tough battle with Sumalatha Ambareesh, an Independent candidate. Polling will take place on April 18, and counting on May 23.
