A brawl with a neighbour has proved fatal for an Indian origin man and left his wife critically wounded in Munich, Germany.
The couple, 49-year old Prashant Basarur and 43-year old Smita Basarur got into an argument with an immigrant, a Guinea man, living outside their apartment complex in the morning hours on Friday, March 29.
Soon, a scuffle broke out, with the Guinea man attacking the couple with a knife, causing multiple stab injuries on their body. Prashant succumbed to injuries, while Smita is under treatment in hospital.
Alarmed by the commotion, people living nearby alerted the police. The Guinea man is slapped with attempt to murder charge after he was arrested and produced at the magistrate court in Augsburg.
Prashant was an Engineering graduate from NMAM Institute of Technology, Karkala in Karnataka, whereas Smitha studied in Mangalore University for her Masters in Art degree. Prashant had joined Airbus Helicopters in Donauworth, Germany in 2016.
The couple has two children, who are currently under the care of Indian Mission in Munich. At the same time, External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has expressed her condolence to the family and said her ministry is facilitating Prashant’s brother travel to Germany on Twitter.
