Just 48 hours ahead of the first phase voting for the Lok Sabah elections, two incidents of dastardly terrorist attacks took place in two different states on Monday. The attacks left a BJP MLA, an RSS leader and at least six security personnel dead.
The first attack took place in Kishtwar town in Jammu and Kashmir. A terrorist barged into a health centre around noon and opened fire at RSS leader Chanderkanth Sharma and his security officer Rajender. While the officer died on the spot Sharma succumbed to injuries later.
In the second incident in the state of Chhattisgarh, Maoists ambushed the convoy of Bhima Mandavi, a BJP MLA, in the Dantewada region, and blew up his bulletproof vehicle using an improvised explosive device. Mandavi and five police personnel were killed instantly in the blast.
Bhima Mandavi had won the reserved constituency of Dantewada in assembly elections held in November last. Maoist had kileld two policemen and a cameraperson of Doordarshan in Dantewada ahead of the assembly elections.
