A day after a series of terrorist attacks churches and hotel killed at least 290 people and injured 500 others in Sri Lanka, the government in the island nation has named the terror outfit National Thawheeth Jamaath (NTJ) responsible for the blood bath. But the government suspects support of international network(s) in the dastardly attacks.
However, media reports had already speculated about the alleged mastermind who attacked Shangri La hotel in the morning as Islamic extremist Moulvi Zahran Hashim. He detonated the bomb fitted onto his body after coming up in a queue to get his breakfast.
Moulvi Zahran Hashim was a prolific lecturer for the NTJ. He had reportedly posted several YouTube video with content that may be considered incitement. In one of the videos he had allegedly raised the question: “What can Sri Lankan Muslims do for Dr. Zakir Naik?” Islamic preacher Naik is wanted in India in cases filed by Enforcement Directorate and National Investigative Agency. He is currently resides in Malaysia.
