Congress leader and a two-time chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digivijay Singh is known for his controversial statements with seemingly an anti-Hindu stance. He had famously termed the killing of Indian Mujahideen terrorists in Delhi’s Batla House in 2008 under UPA government as “fake encounter”. He had launched a book that described 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks as an RSS conspiracy. He was among the Congress leaders who raised “saffron terror” bogey.

However, Digivijay Singh has apparently embraced “saffron” with both hands to win against a saffron icon and BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur this election season. Both are fighting for the Bhopal parliamentary seat that goes to the polls on May 12.

Digivijay Singh has reportedly got 5,000 sadhus on board to campaign for him. On April 8, sadhus led by Computer Baba painted the streets of Bhopal saffron by taking out a rally in his support. Even cops were seen with saffron scarves around their neck during the event.

Also a red chilli havan is being conducted to seek divine intervention for his victory. Last week, Mahamandaleswar Swami Vairagyanand of Panchayati Niranjani Akhara told the media that the yajna would commence on May and continue till May 12, the polling day. The ritual includes burning 5 kg red chillies every day.

Swami Vairagyanand vowed to take live samadhi if Digvijay Singh loses the election.
