Telugu Desam Party leader and Andra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu seems busy seeking support from Opposition parties to revolt against the Lok Sabha 2019 results on May 23, if the verdict goes in favour of the ruling NDA alliance.

Naidu is reported to have had proposed to the Opposition parties that a memorandum, with the declaration of an intent to form a coalition government, should be submitted to President Ramnath Kovind. In the past few days, he has met with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. However, parties such as the CPM is reported to have expressed reservation against such move.

After exit polls on May 19 predicted a certain return of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister while significantly varying in seat projections (from 277 to 350), Naidu has stepped up his efforts to strategise future course of actions. He raised questions over the reliability of EVMs once again, and rushed to Kolkata to meet West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on May 20.

Predicted to lose his state (according to most exist polls), Naidu is said to have discussed EVM with Mamata Banerjee. She had, anyways, dismissed the exit poll projections. Her tweet read: “I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together”.

Apparently, if the actual result proves the exit poll projection right on May 23, expect Mamata-Naidu led show down over EVMS.
