The barbaric incident involving the strangulation of two-year-old girl near Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has drawn nationwide condemnation. The girl had gone missing on May 30, and her body was found being nibbled by dogs in a garbage dump near her home on June 2. Two men, identified Zahid and Aslam, have been arrested and the Aligarh police have decided to investigate the case under National Security Act.
According to the police, a financial dispute is behind the brutal act. Zahid had borrowed Rs 50,000 from the girl’s father and failed to repay the amount in full. When asked, he reportedly threatened the latter with dire consequences, and then committed the heinous crime with the help of Aslam.
