Big diplomatic victory to India, UNSC declares Masood Azhar a terrorist

The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday designated Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar as terrorist.  The move comes after China removed its “technical Hold” on placing Azhar on the UN Sanctions list, under global pressure.

After the terrorist attack on CRPF jawans in Pulwama, India had succeeded in getting several nations on board to get Azhar listed. But China, a veto wielding permanent member of the UN Security Council, had been a stumbling block bringing up a technical hold.

However of late, China was exhibiting signs of its changing position on Masood Azhar. “I can only say that I believe that this will be properly resolved,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang had recently told the media.

Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley tweeted, “India stands vindicated. Masood Azhar is now a global terrorist. India is in safe hands. This marks a high point for the Prime Minister’s foreign policy.”

India’s ambassador in the UN Syed Akbaruddin tweeted, “Big,small, all join together. Masood Azhar designated as a terrorist in @UN Sanctions list”.

With the blacklisting of Masood Azhar on UN Sanctions, Pakistan-based Jaish’s involvement in the Pulwama terror attacks is now globally established, despite vehement denials by Pakistan

These undeniable proofs apart, some top political leaders, have continued to question the veracity of the Airstrikes. Today, Maharashtra MLC Haribhau Rathod claimed even an ant was not killed in the airstrikes.

Earlier leaders from Congress party, including Kapil Sibal, Digvijay Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu had raised doubts over the claim by the Indian Air Force about the pre-emptive non-military attack on Balakot terror camps.
